Dose

Apply Terbinafine 1% lotion (Af-ter Lotion) thinly to affected areas once or twice daily for 1-2 weeks. Suitable for adults and children over 12 years. Safety and efficacy in children under 12 years are not established. No specific recommendations for special populations.

Mechanism of action

Terbinafine inhibits squalene epoxidase, an enzyme crucial for ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes. This disruption leads to increased cellular squalene and decreased ergosterol, compromising fungal cell membrane integrity and function, ultimately causing fungal cell death.

Precautions

Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, or open wounds, do not ingest, discontinue use if irritation or hypersensitivity occurs, not recommended for use on the face, consult a healthcare provider before use in children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, store at controlled room temperature, keep out of reach of children.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to terbinafine or any component of the formulation, liver disease, renal impairment, history of chronic or active liver disease, pregnancy, lactation.
