Dose

Adults: 16 mg orally three times daily. Pediatric use: Safety and efficacy not established. Use with caution in hepatic or renal impairment; dose adjustment may be necessary. Not recommended during pregnancy or lactation unless clearly needed.

Mechanism of action

Acts as a weak agonist at histamine H1 receptors and a strong antagonist at histamine H3 receptors in the central and vestibular systems, enhancing histaminergic neurotransmission, increasing vestibular blood flow, and reducing endolymphatic pressure, thereby alleviating vertigo symptoms.
