API strength per dosage

Dose

Adults: 10 ml orally every 12 hours. Children 6–12 years: 5 ml orally every 12 hours. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 ml orally every 12 hours. Not recommended for children under 2 years. Use with caution in hepatic or renal impairment; consult physician.

Mechanism of action

Phenylephrine is an α1-adrenergic receptor agonist causing vasoconstriction in nasal mucosa. Chlorpheniramine maleate is an H1 histamine receptor inverse agonist, inhibiting allergic responses. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is an NMDA receptor antagonist and sigma-1 receptor agonist, suppressing the medullary cough center.
