Dose

Ecosprin Gold 10 is typically taken once daily in adults. It is not recommended for children. Use with caution in patients with hepatic or severe renal impairment; dose adjustments or alternative therapy may be required. Contraindicated in active bleeding, severe liver disease, or hypersensitivity to components. Always follow physician guidance for individual patient needs.

Mechanism of action

Aspirin irreversibly inhibits COX-1, reducing thromboxane A2 and platelet aggregation. Clopidogrel blocks the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets, inhibiting activation and aggregation. Atorvastatin competitively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, decreasing cholesterol synthesis and upregulating LDL receptors, lowering plasma LDL cholesterol. Together, they reduce atherothrombotic risk.

Pregnancy category

Use in pregnancy only if clearly needed; components may pose risks, especially in the third trimester. Assess benefits versus potential fetal harm before prescribing.

Precautions

Bleeding risk, liver function monitoring, muscle symptoms, renal function, gastrointestinal ulceration, hypersensitivity reactions, drug interactions, avoid in active bleeding or severe liver disease, monitor lipid levels, caution in elderly, assess for signs of myopathy, monitor platelet count, avoid alcohol excess, pregnancy and lactation precautions.

Contraindications

Active bleeding, hypersensitivity to aspirin, clopidogrel, or atorvastatin, history of peptic ulcer, severe liver impairment, bleeding disorders, pregnancy, lactation, history of intracranial hemorrhage, severe renal impairment, concomitant use with certain anticoagulants.
