API strength per dosage

Dose

Adults: 40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks for GERD; 20-40 mg for peptic ulcer prophylaxis. Pediatrics (1-11 years): 10-20 mg daily; (12-17 years): 20-40 mg daily. Adjust dose in severe hepatic impairment; not recommended for children under 1 year.

Precautions

Hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or substituted benzimidazoles, severe hepatic impairment, risk of Clostridioides difficile infection, osteoporosis-related fractures, hypomagnesemia, concomitant use with atazanavir or nelfinavir, long-term use risks, potential masking of gastric malignancy, caution in pregnancy and lactation, dose adjustment in renal impairment.
