Dose

For adults with gout, the recommended dose is 40 mg once daily; may increase to 80 mg once daily if serum uric acid >6 mg/dL after 2–4 weeks. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients are not established. Use with caution in severe renal or hepatic impairment.
