Apixaban (2.5mg)
Apixaban (2.5mg)
Anticoagulant; specific subclass: direct oral factor Xa inhibitor (DOAC).
Film-coated oral tablet containing 2.5 mg apixaban.
Apigat 2.5 mg (apixaban) is typically used in adults for thromboprophylaxis after hip or knee replacement, or in select atrial fibrillation patients. Dose adjustments or avoidance may be needed in severe renal or hepatic impairment. Not recommended in children. Always refer to local guidelines and product information for specific indications and dosing.
Apixaban is a direct, selective inhibitor of Factor Xa, a key enzyme in the coagulation cascade. By inhibiting Factor Xa, apixaban decreases thrombin generation and thrombus development, resulting in reduced blood clot formation without directly affecting platelet aggregation.

Bleeding risk, renal impairment, hepatic impairment, concomitant use with other anticoagulants or antiplatelets, elderly patients, body weight <60 kg, abrupt discontinuation, spinal/epidural anesthesia risk, monitor for signs of bleeding, monitor renal and hepatic function, assess for drug interactions, adherence to dosing schedule.
Active pathological bleeding, severe hypersensitivity to apixaban, hepatic disease with coagulopathy, lesions or conditions at increased risk of major bleeding, concomitant use with other anticoagulants (except during switching), severe renal impairment.
