Telmisartan (40mg) + Metoprolol Succinate (50mg)
Telmisartan (40mg) + Metoprolol Succinate (50mg)
Telmisartan (40mg) + Metoprolol Succinate (50mg)
Antihypertensive; Angiotensin II receptor blocker (telmisartan) and beta-1 selective blocker (metoprolol).
Extended-release oral tablet containing telmisartan and metoprolol succinate.
Arbitel-MT 50 Tablet ER combines telmisartan 40 mg and metoprolol succinate 50 mg, typically taken once daily in adults. Dose adjustments may be needed in hepatic impairment (especially for telmisartan) and severe renal impairment. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established. Always individualize dosing based on clinical response and tolerability.
Telmisartan blocks angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptors, reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone effects, lowering blood pressure. Metoprolol succinate selectively inhibits β1-adrenergic receptors, decreasing heart rate and myocardial contractility, also reducing blood pressure. Together, they provide additive antihypertensive effects via complementary mechanisms.
Treatment of Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Headache Weakness Dizziness Cold extremities Slow heart rate Increased potassium level in blood Numbness of extremity Decreased blood pressure
Telmisartan is contraindicated in pregnancy due to fetal toxicity risk; metoprolol should be used only if clearly needed, after risk-benefit assessment.
Monitor blood pressure, heart rate, renal function, electrolytes, signs of heart failure, hepatic function, risk of hyperkalemia, bradycardia, hypotension, avoid abrupt withdrawal, caution in asthma/COPD, diabetes, pregnancy, severe renal/hepatic impairment, drug interactions, monitor for dizziness or fatigue.
Hypersensitivity to telmisartan, metoprolol, or excipients, pregnancy, severe bradycardia, second- or third-degree heart block, cardiogenic shock, overt cardiac failure, severe hepatic impairment, severe hypotension, sick sinus syndrome (without pacemaker).
