Disodium Hydrogen Citrate (1.37gm/5ml)
Disodium Hydrogen Citrate (1.37gm/5ml)
Oral syrup
Adults: 15–30 ml diluted with water, 2–3 times daily. Children: 5–10 ml diluted with water, 2–3 times daily. Dose adjustment may be required in renal impairment; use with caution. Always administer after meals and under medical supervision.
Disodium hydrogen citrate dissociates to citrate ions, which are metabolized to bicarbonate in the liver, increasing systemic and urinary pH by buffering hydrogen ions, thereby alkalinizing urine; it does not act via receptors or enzymes but alters acid-base balance through metabolic conversion and renal excretion pathways.
