Antispasmodic (Dicyclomine) and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug—NSAID (Mefenamic Acid).
Film-coated oral tablet containing dicyclomine 10mg and mefenamic acid 250mg.
Meftal-Spas Tablet is typically taken 1 tablet two to three times daily after meals in adults. Use in children is not well established; consult a physician. Caution is advised in renal or hepatic impairment—dose adjustment or avoidance may be necessary. Prolonged use or high doses increase risk of adverse effects; use the lowest effective dose.
Dicyclomine is a competitive antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mainly M3) in smooth muscle, reducing gastrointestinal motility and spasm. Mefenamic acid inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), decreasing prostaglandin synthesis, which reduces inflammation and pain. Together, they relieve abdominal pain and cramps.
