Mupirocin 20 mg/g, Metronidazole 20 mg/g per ointment dose.

Dose

Apply a thin layer of Metrogyl-M Ointment to the affected area three times daily for adults and children. Duration of treatment should be determined by clinical response. Safety and efficacy in neonates and specific recommendations for special populations are not well-documented; consult a healthcare provider for these cases.

Mechanism of action

Mupirocin inhibits bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, preventing tRNA charging and protein synthesis. Metronidazole disrupts DNA synthesis in anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by forming toxic radicals, leading to bacterial cell death.
