Dose

Ovuloc Tablet is typically taken as one tablet daily for 21 consecutive days, followed by a 7-day tablet-free interval. Not recommended before menarche. Use is contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment; caution in mild/moderate hepatic or renal impairment. Mechanism of action

Ovuloc Tablet combines ethinyl estradiol, which binds estrogen receptors, and desogestrel, which binds progesterone receptors. Together, they suppress gonadotropin (FSH, LH) secretion from the pituitary, inhibiting ovulation, thicken cervical mucus to impede sperm penetration, and alter endometrial lining to reduce implantation likelihood.

Pregnancy category

Ovuloc Tablet is contraindicated in pregnancy; discontinue if pregnancy occurs, as combined oral contraceptives offer no benefit and may pose risks to the fetus.

Precautions

Assess for thromboembolic disorders, hypertension, migraine, liver dysfunction, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, breast cancer history, smoking status (especially age >35), diabetes, lipid disorders; monitor blood pressure, glucose, liver function, and for signs of depression, visual changes, or breakthrough bleeding; counsel on adherence and drug interactions.

Contraindications

Known or suspected pregnancy, history of thromboembolic disorders, cerebrovascular or coronary artery disease, known or suspected breast cancer, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, liver tumors or severe hepatic disease, hypersensitivity to ingredients.
