Quetiapine (25mg)
Quetiapine (25mg)
Atypical antipsychotic; dibenzothiazepine derivative.
Quel 25mg Tablet is an oral tablet containing quetiapine 25mg.
Quetiapine dosing is individualized based on indication and patient factors. For adults, initial doses are typically low and titrated; elderly or hepatic impairment require lower starting doses and slower titration. Safety and efficacy in children vary by indication; consult specific guidelines. Dose adjustments may be needed in hepatic impairment. Always follow approved prescribing information.
Quetiapine antagonizes dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors in the brain, reducing dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission. It also blocks histamine H1 and adrenergic α1 and α2 receptors. This receptor antagonism leads to antipsychotic, mood-stabilizing, and sedative effects, improving symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and related conditions.
