Metoprolol Succinate (47.5mg)
Metoprolol Succinate (47.5mg)
Beta-adrenergic blocker; selective beta-1 blocker (cardioselective).
Extended-release oral tablet containing metoprolol succinate 47.5 mg.
Sustameto 50 Tablet ER contains metoprolol succinate 47.5 mg. Adult dosing varies by indication; typically, once daily, titrated based on response. Use caution in hepatic impairment—dose adjustment may be needed. Safety and efficacy in children are not established. Renal impairment generally does not require adjustment. Always individualize dosing per clinical response and tolerability.
Metoprolol succinate selectively blocks β1-adrenergic receptors in the heart, inhibiting catecholamine-mediated increases in heart rate, contractility, and cardiac output. This reduces myocardial oxygen demand and blood pressure, leading to decreased cardiac workload. It has minimal effect on β2-adrenergic receptors at therapeutic doses.

Metoprolol should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed; potential fetal risks exist, especially in the third trimester. Monitor maternal and fetal status closely.
Monitor blood pressure, heart rate, ECG, signs of heart failure, bronchospasm in asthma/COPD, blood glucose in diabetics, renal and hepatic function, avoid abrupt withdrawal, caution in bradycardia, hypotension, peripheral vascular disease, pregnancy, lactation, and with other antihypertensives or CYP2D6 inhibitors.
Hypersensitivity to metoprolol or other beta-blockers, severe bradycardia, second- or third-degree heart block, cardiogenic shock, overt cardiac failure, sick sinus syndrome (without pacemaker), severe peripheral arterial circulatory disorders.
