Dose

Adults: 4 mg three or four times per day, up to a maximum of 32 mg per day. Pediatrics (2-6 years): 1-2 mg three or four times per day; (6-12 years): 2 mg three or four times per day; (12 years and older): same as adult dose. Adjust dose for renal impairment.

Mechanism of action

Salbutamol binds to and activates β2-adrenergic receptors, increasing intracellular cyclic AMP via adenylate cyclase activation. This leads to bronchial smooth muscle relaxation and bronchodilation.
