Mechanism of action

Inhibits dopamine transporter (DAT) and norepinephrine transporter (NET) on presynaptic neurons, blocking reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine into the synaptic cleft, thereby increasing extracellular concentrations of these neurotransmitters in the central nervous system, enhancing neurotransmission and stimulating cortical and subcortical activity.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, narcolepsy

Precautions

History of drug or alcohol abuse, severe anxiety, agitation, glaucoma, uncontrolled hypertension, cardiovascular disease, hyperthyroidism, tics or Tourette’s syndrome, concomitant MAOI use, seizure disorders, risk of growth suppression in children, psychiatric disorders, pregnancy, lactation, elderly, renal or hepatic impairment.
