For vaginal candidiasis in adults, insert one 200 mg Clotrimazole pessary (Candid V3) intravaginally at bedtime for three consecutive nights. Not recommended for pediatric use or specified for special populations. Consult a healthcare provider for individualized dosing if necessary.

Mechanism of action

Clotrimazole disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis, specifically targeting the enzyme lanosterol 14-α-demethylase. This inhibition leads to increased membrane permeability and ultimately, fungal cell death.

Indications

Vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush, skin infections including athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, diaper rash, fungal nail infections, pityriasis versicolor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or any component, first trimester of pregnancy, use with latex products such as condoms or diaphragms (may compromise effectiveness).
