Mupirocin 2%

Dose

Apply a small amount to the affected area three times daily for up to 10 days. Suitable for adults and children over 2 months. In renal impairment, no dose adjustment is required. Avoid use in infants under 2 months unless directed by a physician.

Mechanism of action

Indications

Impetigo, secondary skin infections due to Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, eradication of nasal carriage of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to mupirocin, hypersensitivity to any ointment components, use in nasal mucosa, use in eyes, use in patients with extensive burns or open wounds.
