Mechanism of action

Bromhexine hydrochloride enhances mucus clearance by depolymerizing mucopolysaccharide fibers, reducing mucus viscosity. Pseudoephedrine stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors, causing vasoconstriction, and beta-adrenergic receptors, promoting bronchodilation and increased heart rate.

Indications

Relief of nasal and sinus congestion, reduction of viscosity of mucus in acute respiratory tract infections, symptomatic relief of cough associated with bronchitis and common cold.

Precautions

Monitor blood pressure, avoid in hypertension, caution in diabetes, contraindicated in MAOI users, caution in thyroid disorders, avoid in severe coronary artery disease, use cautiously in renal or hepatic impairment, may cause dizziness (avoid driving), not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, monitor for allergic reactions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ingredients, severe hypertension, severe coronary artery disease, hyperthyroidism, pregnancy, breastfeeding, children under 6 years, concurrent MAOI therapy, severe renal or hepatic impairment.
