Mechanism of action

Rifampicin inhibits bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, blocking RNA synthesis. Isoniazid inhibits enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase (InhA) and β-ketoacyl-ACP synthase (KasA), enzymes essential for mycolic acid synthesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, disrupting cell wall formation and leading to bacterial cell death.
