FOUNDATION SKILL · Unit conversion

A storage worksheet expresses a volume of 1.25 L in millilitres. Which entry is correct?

  1. 12.5 mL
  2. 125 mL
  3. 1,250 mL
  4. 12,500 mL
Reveal answer and explanation1,250 mL

Multiply litres by 1,000 to convert to millilitres: 1.25 × 1,000 = 1,250 mL. Before using a value in a formula, put all volumes in compatible units.

NOW CHANGE THE NUMBERS

Express 350 mL in litres.

Check your working

0.35 L: 350 ÷ 1,000. Converting in the reverse direction is a quick check that the decimal place is reasonable.

Check your method

Try the same method with different numbers. Explain each step without looking at the answer.

  • Write what the question asks you to calculate or decide.
  • Identify the relevant information and its units.
  • Show the method before calculating the final answer.
  • Check the size and unit of your answer for plausibility.
  • Record the reason for an error, then retry later without the solution.

What else should you practise for Rwanda NPC?

Practise other topics too. Check the official guidance for the full syllabus.

Written practice

Review therapeutics, pharmaceutics, professional practice and supply-chain concepts through questions. Write a short reason for each correction.

Oral reasoning

Practise a concise opening answer followed by a fuller explanation. Ask a study partner to probe what you would do if key facts changed.

Rwandan requirements

Read NPC guidance for the current registration route and local professional requirements. Check documentation and examination notices directly with NPC.

Use one topic in both formats: answer a written question, then explain the same principle aloud without reading your notes. Keep a list of language or communication difficulties alongside your knowledge gaps so you can rehearse both deliberately.
