For exams administered on or after May 1, 2025, NABP uses the NAPLEX Content Outline rather than the older competency-statement format. The outline contains five domains with very different weights, so a flat topic list is a poor study plan.
BLUEPRINT TO REVISION
What to study — and where the knowledge connects
These links open broad PharmaProLearn learning units. Use them to rebuild foundations, then return to the regulator's current blueprint or guidance for the exact scope expected in your examination.
This is the largest domain. It includes patient information, health conditions, treatment appropriateness, monitoring, education, non-prescription care and decisions that integrate patient-specific factors.
Foundational Knowledge includes pharmaceutical sciences, compounding, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics and calculations. Medication Use Process covers prescriptions/orders, medication selection/use, dispensing, administration and monitoring responsibilities.
Professional Practice + Pharmacy Management & Leadership — 5% each
These smaller domains still matter. They cover public health, ethical/professional responsibilities and operational/leadership concepts. Small weight does not mean safe to ignore when the rest of your preparation is already competitive.
Start with the official five-domain outline and tag every missed question to its domain/subdomain instead of keeping one generic error list.
02
Prioritise Domain 3, but keep regular calculation/foundational practice so science and arithmetic do not decay while you focus on cases.
03
Use jurisdiction-specific law sources separately; NAPLEX content preparation does not replace MPJE/UMPJE or state-board requirements.
Current official guidance wins
The PharmaProLearn unit links are broad foundation resources. The NABP Content Outline remains the authoritative map for what the NAPLEX assesses and may be revised by NABP.
